Brosnan In the News : Brosnan Golf Wins Award

Queensland's Brosnan Golf took out the "Best Equipment Award" during Australia's first ever Golf Expo at Royal Melbourne during the Australian Open last month.

For Brosnan Golf, one of the show's main exhibitors, the hard work paid off when five times British Open champion, Peter Thomson, presented Denis Brosnan with the award.

More than 10,000 people attended the week-long exhibition.

Both Australian and overseas manufacturers exhibited their huge ranges of golf clubs, bags, clothing, shoes and accessories.

Dunlop Slazenger, Spalding, Lynx, Daiwa, MacGregor, Wilson and Cobra were some of the manufacturers displaying their lines of golf clubs.

Clothing manufacturers were well represented also with exhibits from Niblick, Puma, Pacific, Pickering, Peeble Beach and Sacks.  Both Puma and Niblick were showing off their 1985 range of shoes.

And all the latest in golf bags were on display, from the most expensive, a kangaroo fur bag with matching overnight bag ang golf ball bag by Denzil Don, to the not so expensive.

Denzil Don is Australia's largest golf bag manufacturer and although their name does not appear on some bags, many leading professionals use their product.

Other exciting golf bag exhibitors were Brosnan Golf, Proline, Cobra, Slazenger, Spalding and MacGregor.

Golf buggies were well represented with three different types of motorised buggies on show as well as standard buggies by Pilgrim, Belview and Brosnan Golf.

For people who wanted something different there was a huge range of accessories available at the show.  Some of the accessories were all weather water resistant gloves, "Great White Shark" wood head covers, personalised golf balls and tees name gadget (to place your name on), ball marker badges and animal  wood head covers (koalas, kangaroos and rats).

Many professionals were intrigued by these items and were seen buying them for their personal use.

The show was visited by people from as far as Western Australia and Tasmania as well as a large contingent of Queenslanders from most metropolitan clubs.

Denis Brosnan said he was pleased to have Wayne Grady visit the Brosnan Golf Stand each day as well as visits from Bob Shearer, Bon Stanton, New Zealand's Richard Ellis, Alan Crighton of Townsville and 1983 Australian Open champion Peter Fowler.

"I was delighted to have Wayne visit our stand as well as the other pros and visitors from America, New Zealand, England, Japan and Singapore." Brosnan said.

Alan Murray, who runs Par Golf in Singapore, and the Japanese have ordered golf sets from Brosnan Golf, he said.

"But the highlight of the show was when Peter Thomson presented Brosnan Golf with the Best Equipment Award at the expo."
