Brosnan In the News : Golf winner

A Wavell Heights man who won the Quest Community Newspapers' Golf Week Competition has wasted no time in putting his prize to the test.

Mr Tom Price of Hoey St collected his prize, a set of Brosnan Golf Australia Accord Mark II clubs last Thursday morning and tried them out that afternoon.

Mr Price's verdict? "I hit the ball alright but it takes a bit of time to get used to a new set of clubs."

Retired for 18 months, Mr Price should get the feel of his new clubs fairly quickly as he plays three times a week.

An 11 handicapper he has close links with the game being a life member of the Nudgee Club where he held various committee positions for 16 years.

He has also been the Queensland Golf Union starter for the Queensland Open for the last 14 years and for the last five years, he has been both starter and scorer for the Open and the Queensland PGA.

Mr Price has started entering competitions since his retirement but the clubs are the first prize he has ever won.

Second prize, a pro bag golf bag, was won by Mrs I.M. Carr of Morayfield.  Mrs Carr, who does not play golf, said she would give the prize to her husband in the hope he would take up the game.

Thrid prize was won by Mr S.J. Horn of Clontarf.
